Bush cracks jokes to Obama through the inauguration
Of all of the beautiful photos from Obama’s inauguration, this stands out as my favorite. It’s not often that you get to see politicians expressing real, unscripted emotion in public, and it’s ever rarer to see it captured on film.
I think it says something about the kind of man Bush is. He’s not bitter that his party lost the election. He’s not just being polite. In what’s probably the most important moment in Barack Obama’s life, he’s defusing the tension with a few jokes.
I’m not saying that the man made the best decisions during his Presidency. He made some mistakes, sure. But I think he got a worse reputation than what he deserved.
