Hostile Email from the Registrar

August 18th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized

So, I got this email from the registrar today, and it just drips with hostility. Read along and see if you agree.

(I read the extra spaces as pauses where the writer is trying to give me the stink eye down the web-o-tubes)

edit: added subject, equally disturbing

Subject: Fall Term is Paid (for now)

Good day,
This note is to let you know that you are registered for classes and your schedule has been “paid” either with a legal means of payment,  with financial aid, or through a contract.

I write to let you know that you are registered and paid, lest  you think you are not, and thus, expect your schedule to be removed at some point.  As it stands right now, we are expecting you to attend fall term.

If you agree with this assessment, you need not write  back.  Just start classes on time and continue with the term.

If you do not plan to attend this fall, please remove your  courses, or let me know and  I’ll do it.  There are many student seeking seats and if you aren’t coming, it  would be good  to open them up.

Otherwise, thank you for  registering and taking care of payment, and we look forward to serving you this fall.

Please let me know if I can  help you with anything.

Regards,
Steve H.
Registrar

Not sure about hostility but this Steve H. needs to learn how to write! But then maybe that’s why he’s just a registrar and not a Dean or the School’s President…

What did you do to him???

Is this their standard confirmation letter? Wow. That would be great if every correspondence from the school had such disdain for students. How dare you pay for and take classes when there are so many others who could have taken your spot?!?

I wonder why he seems to feel your payment is fragile or unreliable and could fall through at any moment. And… and what of this “either by ‘legal’ means or through a contract?” Like you hired some goons to make them an offer they couldn’t refuse?
